This incredible coffee comes to us from family-owned farms located near the villages of Curah Tatal and Kayumas on the Indonesian island of Java. While the vast majority of coffee production on the small island is controlled by the Indonesian government, Taman Dadar, is one of a few smallholder farmers on the Ijen Plateau in eastern Java operating independently. Unlike the government estates, which practice monocultural farming, the Taman Dadar farmers intersperse Erythrina, Albizia and Leucaena trees for shade.
This coffee from the Indonesian island of Java is comparable, in flavor, to the Sumatran Mandheling. However, unlike the Mandheling, you'll find this bean produces a cup that is earthy; a smooth cup that lacks some of the pungency inherent the Sumatran. We think you'll find this cup to be superbly rich and bold. (1Lb bag)
